HEALTH AWARENESS

Sofians believe in the overall development of their students. This includes imbibing life skills and values. To equip them with one such crucial life skill, SPS held a cancer awareness program in August. The speakers were doctors from Ramaiah Hospital. They presented awareness on cancer, its causes, and preventive measures. Displaying slides and videos, they rolled out statistics to prove the alarming increase in cancer cases in recent years. Demonstrative videos were shown to explain how to carry out self-examination, and students were advised on the measures to be taken to protect themselves from the dreadful disease. Students definitely had a lot to take away from this session with the insight provided by the speakers. The program was well-received by all and was very useful.

Counseling

To strengthen coordination between parents and teachers, Sofia Public School conducted an interactive counseling session for the parents of students of Grade X. A special counseling expert, Mr. Venkatesh, stressed behavioral issues in adolescents and shed light on the crucial role of parents as role models in children’s lives.

  • Parental counseling is a type of service that aims to provide the necessary knowledge, tools, guidance, and most especially support to parents without bias or judgment. This way, they become more fully equipped to take care of their children.
  • Parental counseling offers modalities or therapies that help parents gain a better understanding of their parental style, face, and eventually conquer their personal issues, and restore their family, bringing back harmony and peace in the household, with the ultimate motive being the improvement in socio-emotional functioning of the child.

The parents’ counseling session was interactive, informative, and fun, with lots of questionnaires from parents about the students’ careers. Sofians believe in nurturing relationships among all for better understanding and future.
