In the January month, marking the beginning of the new year 2024, numerous activities were successfully planned and executed at Sofia Public School through the collaborative efforts of students and teachers. These activities aimed to enrich subjects, enhance knowledge, and foster a sense of responsibility and citizenship among our students.
Event: New Year Day

Activities:
To mark the start of the new year, the day commenced with an assembly featuring a motivational speech by our Principal, Mrs. Neela Ramesh. Following the Christmas break, students were filled with energy and embraced the new year with the motto, “Self-belief and hard work will always earn you success.” Additionally, students participated in card-making activities conducted in class.
Event: National Road Safety Week

Objective:
To create awareness about road safety rules and minimize accidents and injuries.
Activities:
As part of National Road Safety Week, students displayed various charts and spoke about the importance of adhering to traffic rules to avoid accidents. The objective was to educate students about road signs, safe driving practices including wearing seat belts and helmets.
Event: Indian Army Day

Objective:
To honor and pay tribute to the courage, bravery, and sacrifices made by the Indian army in protecting our citizens.
Activities:
To celebrate Indian Army Day, various activities were organized. Students sang songs highlighting the sacrifices made by our soldiers and delivered speeches emphasizing the significance of the role of our army in safeguarding our nation.
Event: Math Mela
Date and Day: 20/01/2024
Objectives:
- To convey the message that mathematics is interesting and attract students towards the subject through models, charts, songs, theatres, and games based on mathematics.
- To sharpen the innate numerical skills of young students.
On Math Mela day, held along with Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTM), students from grades 1 to 10 displayed their knowledge and interest in mathematics through various working models, charts, and games based on math concepts. Higher-grade students also operated food stalls, promoting entrepreneurship. Parents were invited to engage with students’ explanations and participate in the displayed games, resulting in a successful event that combined subject enrichment with fun.
Event: National Voters Day

Objective:
National Voters’ Day was celebrated to encourage students to fulfill their duty as citizens of India by participating in the voting process.
Activity:
Various activities such as making posters and writing slogans were conducted to emphasize the importance of elections and voting, highlighting the voting process on election day.
Event: Republic Day
Date and Day: 26/01/2024, Friday
Objectives:
- To commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and the country’s transition to a Republic State on 26th January 1950.
- To understand the importance of this day and the birth of India as a Republic State.
Activity:
Our nation’s 75th Republic Day was celebrated with pride and honor at Sofia Public School. Students paid tribute to the martyrs, reflecting on their sacrifices and contributions to nation-building. Bulletin boards were adorned with Republic Day themes by all four houses. Interesting facts about the history and significance of the event were shared, and the national flag was hoisted by Principal Mrs. Neela Ramesh. The assembly inspired students to uphold their responsibilities towards their country and abide by its constitution.
